Why We Need the Barn
Without an accessible, weather-safe space, our farm has to close for nearly four months each year. When that happens, the purpose, belonging, and connections people build here are disrupted.
Our participants share why this barn matters and what it will make possible.

All gifts are tax-deductible and directly support accessible work, learning, and connection at Common Roots Farm.
This barn builds on what’s already thriving at our farm – a sense of belonging. We'll have year-round space to welcome more people of all abilities and create new opportunities to be part of the farm.
Become a builder of a place to belong.

Common Roots Farm began with a simple belief:
belonging can be built.
We understand what it feels like to see people we care about excluded from opportunities to connect and contribute to the community. That frustration — and hope for something better — is what drives everything we do.
In 2016, a small group of families and friends started to turn an empty 4.5 acre parcel into a thriving inclusive farm where people of all abilities grow food, flowers, and friendships side by side.

Nearly a decade in, Common Roots has shown that when we design with and for people with disabilities, everyone benefits.
Here’s what we’ve built so far — and why we’re ready for the barn.
15+
Accessible Features
Integrated on the Farm
4,000+
Pounds of Fresh Produce Grown Annually for Our Local Community
1,925+
Volunteers Hours Contributed Annually
80+
People with Disabilities Engaged Weekly
Every shared harvest, activity, connection, and all the small moments in between say:
Belonging can be built, together.
All gifts are tax-deductible and support accessible work, learning, and connection at Common Roots Farm.

Barn Project
If funding delays occur, we’ll phase construction to keep progress moving while continuing to raise the remaining balance.
Construction began in Fall 2025 and is expected to be completed by Fall 2026, depending on final funds raised.
Our total goal is $3 million.
We’ve already raised $1 million, but the cost of materials has increased 30%-100% since we began this project. Any delays will further increase costs.
We will be able to expand our programs, providing year-round inclusive jobs, classes, and events for people of all abilities.

Impact &
Inclusion
By creating space for people of all abilities to contribute meaningfully, we’re building more than a farm — we’re growing confidence, connection, and community. We are modeling how inclusion strengthens and enriches the whole community.
When you give, you’re not just helping build a barn — you’re shaping what belonging looks like. Your support cultivates a farm where people of all abilities work, learn, and thrive together in ways that enrich our entire community.
By donating, you become an active builder of belonging and inclusion.
